Not dead...

...but not feeling so great, either.

During a recent trip back to the USA I picked up something that is purest unobtanium here: a big-ass Costco-sized bottle of chili powder. And its first use was to make my chicken and dumplings recipe with a tablespoon added to the dumpling dry ingredients. The result is a delicious piquancy added to the flavor. And bonus, the tumeric in the chili powder mix turned the dumplings and the broth an awesome golden color.
